Our Pubs

Our Pubs

Pearmain Pubs is an independent pub company set up back in 2008 with the simple aim to create fairly priced smart community pubs with great fresh food & fine wines, beers & spirits. Pubs where eaters and drinkers alike are looked after with the same friendly and professional service.

All our pubs have been carefully chosen & sympathetically restored.  The lovely old buildings have been given a fresh new start, using quality materials & furnishings and a quirky twist on the design and décor.  We have created wonderful atmospheres in which to eat, drink and entertain.

The Pearmain Directors have worked together since they were in their twenties. Richard and Julia Brown met Anthony and Tracy Hancock where they built up the Blubeckers and Edwinns restaurant groups, both renowned for quality and innovation at that time. Using this rich history, together with Executive Chef Graham Day & Operations Director Duncan Mcliesh they formed Pearmain Pubs back in 2008 when they opened their first pub The Red Lion in Horsell.  This was followed by the Three Horseshoes Laleham in 2009, The Onslow Arms, West Clandon & Old Plough Stoke D’abernon in 2011, The Crown St Margarets in 2013 and our most recent edition The Wheatsheaf in Esher summer 2015.  We are currently looking at finding our 7th pub….!

Our Teams are vital to our business. A combination of recruiting the best people as well as promoting from within the business as we have grown, has developed teams that we are very proud of.  From service provided by a friendly and efficient front of house team who really care about looking after customers to great menus of fresh locally sourced ingredients prepared on our premises and cooked to order by our enthusiastic and experienced chefs.

If you would like what we do and want to be part of Pearmain Pubs, we employ chefs, bar and waiting staff and managers at all levels and have kitchen apprentice opportunities. If you’re well-presented, have a good eye for detail and enjoy working as part of a team, we’ll be pleased to hear from you.

"I started at the Red Lion in 2008 where I was employed as a food runner. Having worked my way up in that site learning all aspects of the bar and waiting on tables, I was offered the position of assistant manager in the 2nd site, The Three Horseshoes. Having moved around quite a few sites I now find myself 9 years later in my second General managers position back at the Red Lion where it all began! "

"I started working at the Red Lion as a Kitchen Porter. After a year I was promoted to Commis Chef - And I thought to myself, 'I have to work hard to be a Sous Chef or head chef'. Today in just 5 & a half years I am a Sous Chef & I am proud of myself!"

Frances Fox, Assistant Manager

Frances Fox, Assistant Manager

"I started off at The Onslow Arms about six years ago with little waitress experience, however they took me under their wing with a good training plan and pairing me with experienced waiters until I was ready to work on my own section. Realising I really enjoyed the job I decided to progress into management. Pearmain pubs introduced a ‘PAMOF’ scheme (potential assistant managers of the future) I showed my interest and quickly excelled in the scheme becoming an assistant manager of The Onslow Arms in one quick year. I’m very grateful for the support that the company gives me!"
